Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, commonly known as Willkie, is an international law firm founded in 1888. It has over 700 lawyers, in 12 offices in six countries. The firm specializes in corporate practice. Supreme Court Justices Felix Frankfurter and Charles Evans Hughes began their careers at the firm, as did former Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork, and former New York Governor Mario Cuomo served as of counsel at Willkie Farr after leaving office. The law firm's profits per equity partner were $3.17 million in 2019.
A former employee said this in a review "Many assistants are overworked, underpaid, and perhaps most apparent, undervalued. Staff morale is extremely low and management will say anything to interviewees to sell them a dream. Secretarial management is generally passive aggressive and preys upon those with a willingness to prove their capabilities, as most do when starting a new position. If you work hard and give your best efforts, Willkie will not acknowledge this, but instead ask for more. Those who truly enjoy working here usually have the support of a high-level partner and sit on Facebook all day. This company boasts all these great benefits, activities and programs, most of which do not include staff. Rules and standards really only apply to "certain" individuals. The best thing I've learned here? Self worth. Save yourself the headache".

Allow me to elaborate: I’ve never seen lawyers actively disparage clients behind their backs, but WFG changed that. Partners insist on turning an hour of work into 3-5 hours billed to the client. The asset management practice consistently referred to their largest client (investment practice with $3 trillion AUM) as ‘lazy and stupid.’ 3rd year associates needed explanations on basic financial products (i.e. ‘fund of fund’) from our legal assistants... we should have paid those kids more. Saying this as someone who’s Caucasian - it was more than apparent to me that the firm is extremely uncomfortable employing / promoting people of color. After years of priding myself on being a part of, and supporting, a number of diverse environments, I found myself in a place that was anything but. Feel free to look at the list of partners. And although I didn’t encounter this particular issue, it was also clear that there’s little room for upwards mobility. The moment I got an offer for promotion, I leveraged it for a position at a different firm and got out of dodge."

Assistants are constantly pulled in different directions, working for 10+ attorneys in a variety of practice groups, with constant lack of communication and understanding from upper level management. Manager of Technical Services and Training (Former Employee) says"On a typical day, my team handled hundreds of support calls, of which the most challenging/high-profile cases were handled by me personally. I learned mastery of several new software applications, including our ticketing and call center management systems, training tracking system, and workflow capture/training module system. All systems were tightly integrated, and I personally designed the data-sharing interfaces between them. Firm management made considerable effort to enhance the knowledge of its managers and supervisors, with monthly presentations from leaders of the various practice areas and admin departments. My peer managers were excellent, providing challenges but also offering support and creative suggestions. The hardest part of the job was providing my own staff with adequate training and enrichment within an exceptionally tight workday schedule - I could not spare personnel from supporting our end-users long enough to give them the training I'd have preferred for them. The most enjoyable part of the job was leading the team to achieve improvements in customer satisfaction. I received a purse that was white with light pink trim in many areas of the purse. Walter Drake's customer service said I had to PAY to ship the incorrect purse back to them. I am furious......what I received was NOT what I saw in two places.....catalog # 344917 nor online when I ordered it. She said they only pay for return shipping if it is damaged."
